Validation
Before every delivery NCS-DATEV validates in three stages. All three run always – including in unattended operation. A package containing errors is not sent; the documents stay in the source and appear in the monitor as a clarification case.
What is this for?
- Catch faulty deliveries before the tax firm receives them.
- Report errors where they are fixed – at the mapping, not in the XML.
- Comply with the DATEV specification.

How to set it up
- Stage 1 – type check: while filling the data model. If a value does not match the expected type or range, the error points at the source field and mapping line.
- Stage 2 – business rules: on the finished model, before the file is written.
- Stage 3 – format check: the produced files are validated against the DATEV schemas – the last instance before dispatch. DATEV explicitly recommends this check for third-party software.
- In addition, the free DATEV validation tool is available as an external cross-check. It belongs to the test chain, not to day-to-day operation.
